“THE ABSOLUTE KING OF PROGRAMMING”

Joseph is a passionate advocate for the power of music, and as well as performing and recording world-wide, he is fascinated by possibilities for thoughtful exchange when concerts are programmed innovatively. Joseph frequently devises four-part series for BBC Radio 3 (past series have included explorations of Strauss, Mahler, Britten, Wolf, Duparc, Paris in 1910 and Four Seasons amongst others), Wigmore Hall (a Ravel and friends series, forthcoming series include those focussing on Mahler and Strauss) and at the University of Cambridge where he founded and directs the Bliss International Song Series.

FORTHCOMING CONCERTS AT PEMBROKE COLLEGE

For the past 9 years Joseph been Director of Leeds Lieder. During this time he has completely re-designed the organisation from a biennial event to “a fixture that is now firmly established on the international calendar.” (Classical Music) 

Under his direction Leeds Lieder has been praised in the Guardian for its ‘World-class’ programming and lauded in The Times for bringing: ‘musical riches to Yorkshire through star performers, engaging new commissions and bold educational projects….a Northern powerhouse of song.’ It has won awards for its education work, had its commissions nominated for Ivor Awards, and been shortlisted at the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards.
